Cycle is a performance presented in collaboration with artist 2Fik.

2Fik and I might seem like polar opposites:  2Fik is a young man, from a Muslim background, living in Canada and working with photography and performances that often appear challenging and provocative.

I am a mature woman from a Catholic background, living in New York and working with readymade sculptures and installations, using a pastel palette and subtlety.

We are both interested in transcending the parameters history has placed around the human being.

In this performance, we portray 28 minutes in the life of a woman hoping to give the feel of one human organism instead of two. 

In a world in mutation, we wish to open a dialogue with the public about respect, understanding and compassion around the concept of gender.

Cycle est une performance en collaboration avec l’artiste 2Fik.

2Fik et moi pouvons paraitre aux antipodes l’un de l’autre. Il est un homme, jeune, qui vit au Canada et a grandi dans un milieu musulman. Il crée des photographies et des performances qui peuvent sembler provocatrices.

Je suis une femme d’âge mur qui vit à New York. J’ai été élevée catholique et je fais des sculptures et des installations tout en subtilité, utilisant une palette pastel.

Nous sommes tous les deux intéressés par le fait de transcender les paramètres que l’histoire et les religions ont imposé aux êtres humains.

Durant cette performance nous faisons le portrait de 28 minutes dans la vie d’une femme, espérant donner le sentiment d’un seul organisme et non de deux.

Dans ce monde en mutation nous souhaitons ouvrir un dialogue avec le public, plein de respect et de compassion, à propos de la notion du genre.
