I started training for what I do as an artist when I was a little girl by taking care of others in the confinement of home.
I developed my senses through the smell of the Marseille soap and lavender during laundry, my touch and attention to detail through long sessions of embroidery or knitting on Sundays, my appreciation for colors through pairing dishes and napkins.
Then I took care of three children for 20 years.
When they left home, I reflected on my experience and my immersion in motherhood and realized that the world of careers and materialistic goals didn’t recognize its value. This struck me as an imbalance in our culture.
My work had been taking care, and “home” was going to become my palette. I wanted to remind the world of the beauty found in a delicate pile of folded linen, in an early mending school sample, in a pair of white leather gloves; in communing instead of communicating; in taking care of each other and allowing that idea to permeate everything and reconnect us with our environment.
The world is missing a mother. It is the Vesica Piscis—the marriage of the triangle and the circle. To me, and according to the principle “as above, so below”, this balance is sacred and what we call harmony and beauty.

J’ai appris à devenir ce que je suis en tant qu’artiste alors que j’étais une toute petite fille chez moi en Normandie.
J’ai développé mes sens à travers la délicieuse odeur du savon de Marseille en faisant la lessive, mon attention aux détails et une certaine agilité des doigts durant de longues sessions de broderie ou de tricot le dimanche au coin du feu, mon sens des couleurs en cherchant à marier les nappes et les serviettes de table.
Puis j’ai élevé trois enfants pendant vingt ans.
Lorsqu’ils ont quitté la maison, j’ai réfléchi à mon expérience en tant que mère et j’ai réalisé que le monde hors de la maison, le monde des carrières et des poursuites matérialistes n’accordait pas beaucoup de crédit a la maternité. Cela m’est apparu comme un déséquilibre.
Mon travail avait été de prendre soin des autres, la maison allait devenir ma palette.
J’ai eu la furieuse envie de montrer au reste du monde la beauté d’une pile de linge joliment pliée, d’une étude de reprise faite par une écolière, d’une paire de gants en cuir blanc, de l’idée de communier plutôt que de communiquer, de prendre soin les uns des autres et de laisser cette notion tout pénétrer, y compris notre environnement.
Le monde a besoin d’une mère. C’est la Vesica Piscis … le mariage du cercle et du triangle. Pour moi et en accord avec l’ancien adage « en haut comme en bas », cet équilibre est sacré et c’est ce que nous appelons beauté et harmonie.
